Social Enterprises are defined in many ways, but typically are nonprofit organizations that operate businesses in order to generate revenues and fulfill their missions. The concept has become increasingly common in the past three decades as a result of a combination of government funding cuts to social programs. Other factors promoting the growth of social enterprise include growing nonprofit recognition of the importance of eared income to enabling their organizations to use independently generated revenue to support programs that make sense for their communities, build community wealth, and directly improve the job skills of people facing barriers to entry in the workplace. How can your nonprofit begin or build its social enterprise into a healthy bottom line?

Do you need proposal advice? Help finding funders for your cause,? Time to just talk with someone who has been a nonprofit executive for over 20 years? If so, this service is for you! Talk with Dayton Metro Library's Nonprofit Resource Librarian about your specific issue. This is a time when nonprofit executives can meet with their peers and work on common problems or specific situations. Consultation time will begin at 6pm. The nonprofit resource librarian will stay until 6:45 and will leave if there aren't candidates with whom to work. So, arrive early to get the help you need. This service is only available to personnel from  501 (c) (3) organizations.
