Does your child
need some extra guidance in reading? Reading Buddies can help! Trained
volunteers spend one-on-one time with any child who needs a little extra
reading practice. Reading Buddies can read aloud to a child, listen to a child
read, or both.
Build your vocabulary and literacy skills with a game of Word Bingo! This game uses a variety of words, instead of numbers, centered around the summer’s theme: Build a Better World. Younger readers will need assistance.
Build your own DIY wooden craft at the Library! This program is made possible by the generous donation of tools and craft sets from Home Depot. Each child must have an adult caregiver present. Please register in advance.
In this collaborative program with Habitat for
Humanity, program participants will have the opportunity to write messages of
compassion and hope, as well as other artistic expressions, on raw building
materials. The finished pieces will be donated back to Habitat for Humanity,
for future use as materials in building a home.
Make the world a
warmer place by knitting scarves and donating them to those in need! Members of
The Miami Valley Knitting Guild will be on hand to help. Bring yarn of your
choice or select from the yarn we’ll provide. Beginners can take home a
Beginning Knitters Kit while supplies last! We encourage you to donate your finished
scarf to St. Vincent De Paul. Children of all skill levels are welcome. Please register in advance.
To build a strong building, engineers need to think about what materials to use and the best ways to put them together. Learn how they do it, then work in a group to build a tower. Which team builds the strongest tower? We’ll test them to find out! Presented by the Armstrong Air & Space Museum.
