HOW TO START A BUSINESS: Ms. Jaya Kiere Johnson

Ms. Jaya Kiere Johnson is a Senior Economics major and Accounting minor at Spelman College. At the age of 16, she started her first business, Links by J. Kiere, a handmade jewelry brand that empowers women of color of all generations. Since then Jaya was featured in Black Enterprise Magazine and in 2015 she was voted Entrepreneur of the Year for the Morehouse College Maroon Tiger Man of the Year issue.   At Spelman College, Jaya started Daddyless Daughters, a supportive community for Spelman students who have grown up without the presence of a father.  After graduation, Jaya will attend Wake Forest University’s Master in Accountancy program to become a Certified Public Accountant. She also plans to continue growing her business and turning Daddyless Daughters into an international nonprofit organization.

Ms. Johnson will walk the teens through the following Program Objectives:
1. Increase entrepreneurship/entrepreneurial thought among high-school aged students
2. Provide information on how to start and grow a business while in high-school/college
3. Inspire and empower students to accomplish their goals
