All Locations
If you're an aspiring playwright, this is your chance to shine!  Submit an 8-15 minute full scene written in English and saved as a PDF by emailing contest@daytonmetrolibrary.org. Please number the pages of your script and include on your title page only: a cast list, your name, email, phone, school, and grade.  No musicals or children's plays will be accepted.  Your work must be your own original work, not be previously published or performed, and Dayton Metro Library reserves the right to not select a winner.  Winners in each category (Grades 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12) will be featured as a stage reading at the awards ceremony on December 14th.  Writers must be available for workshops and rehearsals.  Winners will be announced 11-16-19 at the StoryCon: Teen program at the Main Library.

Learn to Paint Your Pet's Portrait!

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Trotwood
Meeting Room
In this program, you will learn how to paint a portrait of your pet (or another animal). Miss Dani will show you how to do this in a way that makes it almost as easy as coloring in a coloring book. This will take 4 - 6 hours, so please pack a lunch and plan to stay until you are finished. You will be able to take breaks as needed.

After registering, you will need to email 2 or 3 different pictures of the pet or animal you wish to paint. Please send close-up head/face shots  by Sunday, November 3. Miss Dani will determine which photo will be the best to work from and print the image in color for your reference.

While you may keep your painting, we would love to feature it at our Children's Art Reception, which will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2:00-4:00 More details will be given to participants at a later date.
