If you're an aspiring playwright, this is your chance to shine!  Submit an 8-15 minute full scene written in English and saved as a PDF by emailing contest@daytonmetrolibrary.org. Please number the pages of your script and include on your title page only: a cast list, your name, email, phone, school, and grade.  No musicals or children's plays will be accepted.  Your work must be your own original work, not be previously published or performed, and Dayton Metro Library reserves the right to not select a winner.  Winners in each category (Grades 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12) will be featured as a stage reading at the awards ceremony on December 14th.  Writers must be available for workshops and rehearsals.  Winners will be announced 11-16-19 at the StoryCon: Teen program at the Main Library.

Community Room
The Wilmington Stroop Library is sponsoring a coding club for middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12.  This group is open to any young person curious about coding, computers, and information technology.  The library is partnering with the national organization Girls Who Code, but we welcome both girls and boys into the program.  From Girls Who Code we will be using curriculum and ideas.  From the library we'll be using a wide range of computers, digital devices, and other programmable things--PCs, laptops, Arduinos, Ozobots, Lego Mindstorms, Makey Makeys, and more.  We are also seeking community adults working in information science--especially women--to visit the group and talk to us about how they use programming and computers in their jobs.  One of our goals will be for each member of the group to decide on some kind of project on which he or she (alone or in groups) could work--perhaps a video game in Scratch; perhaps the beginnings of a website in HTML;
