As a part of Hispanic Heritage month, DML will share resources in Spanish that can help with a job search, starting a business or starting a nonprofit organization. There will be an exhibit table and handouts written in Spanish displayed in the library.  Local experts will also deliver classes on resumes, job search, business start-up in Spanish. Dance to the music with Burkhardt's very own Zumba instructor!  Zumba is a high energy workout inspired by Hip Hop, Latin, Salsa and more.  Wear comfortable clothes.  Program may be outside, weather permitting.  For grades 7-12.

Penguins are among the most beloved animals at WAVE Foundation at Newport Aquarium. In our African Penguin program, we will bring one of our penguin ambassadors to you, where you will enjoy an up close and personal encounter with a penguin! During this presentation, participants will learn about these incredible animals, including their natural history, geography, diet, predators, and WAVE Foundation’s research and conservation initiatives. At the close of this approximately 60-minute experience, you will have a greater understanding and appreciation of these remarkable birds!

Feeling intimidated or scared by computers? Gain a solid grasp on the basics of computers with this gentle introduction. Discover all the buttons, ports, and how to start up the PC for the first time.  

Meet the Wildlife Ambassadors including Box Turtles, Gray Rat Snake, Eastern Screech Owl and American Kestrel.   We will discuss what makes Five Rivers MetroParks special and how you can help wildlife near your home.  Presentations will take about 45 min to an hour.  Questions will be encouraged.  All ages.

Public Health: vaccine clinic

Join other teens for some water balloon fun in Burkhardt's new outdoor terrace!  Bring a change of clothes or a towel because you will get wet.  For Grades 7-12.

Ease into the basics of coding with the Scratch language. Make almost anything into a sensor with Makey Makey (including fruit) and connect your code to create musical instruments, game controllers, or even interactive poetry. A lively, pressure-free, and enjoyable hands-on way to expand your tech skills.

Make your files organized, findable , and secured. Whether you have megabytes or terabytes worth of files, it is worth developing a good organizational system that works for you. Part 1-Creating, moving, and adding files to folders on the device. Part 2- Backing up files in the cloud (Available across devices). Part 3- How to make copies in different media like CD-ROM/USB  to share. Uploading new pictures or updating folders. This class will focus mostly on images, but the skills learned will be highly transferable to managing all file types.
