Fiber Crafts: Learn to sew - Bowl Cozey

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Brookville
Community Room
A precursor to a coming series on fiber arts.

What is fiber arts?  It is any craft or art that uses fabric, yarn, or thread.  Learn how to sew, knit, crochet, embroider and more in this fun series.

Just in time for the upcoming winter holidays, learn the basics of sewing by creating a bowl cozey.  Have your hot soup and hold it too.  This cozey will keep you hands from burning on a hot bowl, while you can still hold and enjoy hot soup in the cold months.  Makes a lovely present for family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

While you are encouraged to bring your own sewing machine, needle and thread will be available for those who cannot bring their machine, do not own a machine, or prefer to hand sew.  Even if you just want to come, observe, and take home the pattern, you're welcome to join us.

Fabric will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own fabric if you have a print you like.  You will need enough cotton fabric to make 2 10x10 squares.

In this program you will learn: The basics of using a sewing machine, how to read a basic pattern, how to line fabric.
