Our May book is: "Empress of Salt & Fortune" by Nghi Vo.


A book discussion group open to adults who are interested in reading and discussing a diverse range of fiction and nonfiction books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters and/or themes. Join us online for our discussion on the second Monday of each month, 7 - 8:30 pm.

What to expect and what you will need to participate: This book club will be held online through Webex. You and other registered participants will discuss the book online together. You will need a stable internet connection, a microphone enabled device or headset and, if desired, a webcam. If you do not have those items, you may also join by phone. After you have registered for the event online you will receive details on how to join the meeting on the day of the event.

Someone has been murdered in the Library! It’s up to you to narrow down the suspects, figure out the weapon, & locate where the murder took place.  Will you be able to use your time wisely, work as a team, & find the culprit?  Was it the Teen Librarian with a book cart in the Children’s Area?  Only YOU can solve this mystery!

Watercolor Resist Virtual Class

A Virtual Program
Join local watercolor instructor Renee Hopson to learn how to create a watercolor resist using the Dayton Metro Library's May Take & Make kit for teens.  If you didn't pick up a kit, you can still join us for this session.  You will need a basic water color set, a few crayons, and some watercolor paper.  Resist, is used to explain the process of wax repelling water. We will use this process to create abstract patterns, underwater scenes, or a painting with a message. First we will draw with crayons - then use watercolor paints to add depth, texture, ombre fades and interest to our paintings. All while learning some basic watercolor techniques like; washes, blending and layering.  Please register in advance.

After you register, you’ll receive details by email on how to join the meeting on the day of the event.
